Reflections in 2019:
Yay! I get to talk about my instrumentals again!

I met Willy through another friend, and I got to help record and voice characters in his game Yeah Jam Fury! on the wiiu. It remains a special moment in my career so long after those 2014 sessions.

Winter of 2016 comes along and Willy asked if I would be interested in writing a song for the game and I jumped at the opportunity. His partner, Greg, sent over an idea he wanted me to work off of, and I promised I would have something to show for myself before New Years'.

Greg asked me to make the idea swing, so the song is in 6 with a nice sway to the rhythm. Johnny recorded the drums sometime around December and I recorded the guitars and bass on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

I wanted to give the song a structure and whimsy somewhat based around old Nobu Uematsu compositions that I appreciated, and developed the guitar motif out into something I could repeat 3 times while expanding upon it at the same time. Ben was deadset on me having the skanky punctuation and I agreed with him there. Don't they just feel good! I have a special love of harmonized guitars and enjoy using them whenever I can get away with it. This track features the first use of my Supro Trem to do those, and it is the showcase of the last verse as well.

This song kind of broke my silence as a songwriter after finding myself operating in a music scene and saw me being directly inspired by my peers within it to put more effort into my sense of expression. It came out a few months after I had started performing as a solo musician.
