about

I wanted a song anyone could play along to. I wanted to have a song that reflected the openness of world music and the jubilation and release of a drum circle. The song is full of quite a bit of extra instruments including 2 extra bass guitars and a fleet of snare drums to reflect this. The idea being how would you behave if you were playing a song with other people on your instrument.

The lyrics are reflections of my attempts to calm myself and be mindful of my anxiety and how they can just as often be wasting my time as they could be helping my brain and how I need to be mindful of that rabbit hole as well.

The melodic guitar on this track was jubilant to record. The feedback soothes my mind.

The song ends with the initial feedback of the first track to connote a cyclical feeling.

I didn't do single artwork for this song, but here's Sam's badass art again

lyrics

all too often I find my thoughts running away, try to picture a time of the day and the year
where the air has a chill, subtle yet sharp, the sunight peeking through the shade of the trees

Under the shade of the trees is a place I can play
When I have nowhere to go, if I have nowhere to stay
Under the shade of the trees is a place I can play
When I have nowhere to go, if I have nowhere to stay

Try to find contentment in the warmth of the sun
acknowledging errant thoughts as I gaze at the leaves
While gazing up at the leaves let the thoughts drain away and breathe in the air under the shade of the trees

Under the shade of the trees is a place I can play when I have nowhere to go if I have nowhere to stay
Under the Shade of the Trees is a place I can play when I have nowhere to go if I have nowhere to stay

I'd like to know what lies beyond the shade of the trees
There's a whole world outside I really should try and see
